University athletes and sports delegates taking part in the 30th Summer Universiade Napoli 2019 – over 8,000 coming from 127 countries – will have the opportunity to view for free the photographic exhibition and the street-art pieces “Visioni Campane”; both are part of the project “My brilliant friend – Visions from the set” (L’amica geniale – Visioni dal Set) by Eduardo Castaldo, still photographer of the tv series “My brilliant friend” (L’amica Geniale).
A selection of the author’s set photos will be displayed in Naples, from July 6th to September 9th, by Andrea Viliani and Silvia Salvati, at Madre-Museo d’arte contemporanea Donnaregina, the organization of Regione Campania dedicated to research and mediation between contemporary cultures.
Meanwhile, street-art murals representing the characters from Saverio Costanzo’s tv series, produced by Italian broadcasting company RAI, will be realized in Rione Luzzatti, a location dear to Elena Ferrante’s heart, the author of the novels on which “My brilliant friend” is based. The neighbourhood located in the eastern suburbs of Naples already houses a mural by Castaldo representing the series’ main characters, Lina and Lulù.
The universal value of the story of friendship between the two main characters is combined with the spirit of unity and brotherhood that will bring together university athletes under the same flag, the flag of sport, as they will arrive to Naples and Campania from all over the world in a few weeks.
Moreover, among the cultural initiatives promoted by Regione Campania for the Universiade, there will also be a selection, curated by Film Commission, of 12 great movies telling captivating stories of challenge, struggle and redemption in the world of sports. Those universal themes find their physical expression in competitive sports and trough cinema an engaging way to be conveyed. The movies will be shown in all Athletes’ Villages, from July 3rd to 14th
