“The Scandone swimming pool is a wonderfully renovated venue that has everything that makes Italian design famous in the world. The bleachers, made in Italian white marble, and the way this venue was designed make you feel like standing inside the Colosseum, like you are about to watch gladiators fight”, said former swimming champion Byron Reid, currently the manager of New Zealand’s swimming team at the Napoli 2019 Universiade. “The hospitality and cordiality shown by the hundreds of volunteers and members of the organisation is extraordinary,” he adds, only to then thank Neapolitan engineer Giovanni Capizzi, official Napoli 2019 supplier, “for the masterful work carried out in keeping the perfect water quality for our athletes”.
New Zealand’s 200m Backstroke expert Kane Follows also had nothing but words of praise for the Fuorigrotta venue, describing Scandone as an “exceptional” pool, and the water quality as “incredibly good, like nowhere else in the world”.
