Today, 33 young people from the Non-profit organisation “La Scintilla” were able to attend the athletic competitions taking place at San Paolo Stadium for the 30th Summer Universiade Napoli 2019. Their experience was nothing short of exciting.
Non-profit organisation “La Scintilla”, based in Naples, has been providing residential or semi-residential assistance to people with psycho-physical disabilities since 1989. Some of those young boys and girls were able to sit on the bleachers and attend all scheduled competitions. In the end, a surprise was waiting them: the athletes approached them, taking pictures and giving out autographs.
The initiative was commissioned by martial arts master Giuseppe Marmo, from the Kodokan Club Napoli association, while Davide Tizzano, Head of Sport, was in charge of hospitality.
The Universiade has paid particular attention to disabled people since the Opening Ceremony, with free tickets distributed by U.N.I.T.A.L.S.I. and by providing, upon request, assistance during competitions.
