With his leap into the waters of Mostra d’Oltremare’s swimming pool, Chinese athlete Liu kicked off Napoli 2019 Universiade, one day before the Opening Ceremony scheduled for tomorrow, 09:00 PM, at San Paolo Stadium. An enthusiastic atmosphere with special guests, such as Italian diving phenomenon Klaus Dibiasi, whose remarkable career includes two gold medals at the Turin Universiade in 1970 and several competitions in Naples during the 1970s. “It is truly exciting to be in Piscina Scandone today, as I made my first dive here in 1963, and my last one in 1976. The pool is in extraordinary condition thanks to the work done and it will be able to host other great international events after the Universiade. After all, Naples has a long-standing tradition, as I remember many people around the poolside before my dives or Giorgio Cagnotto’s. I hope that Napoli 2019 will guarantee an important future for diving in Italy”
