Beside the scheduled competitions, the Universiade also gave space to other kinds of sport performances. Among them, Kettlebell lifting was one of the most appreciated, endorsed by Alessandro Arthur D’Eragoni, main promoter of this sport in Southern Italy. The Kettlebell, a well-known tool in the fitness world that is now commonly used in gyms, displays extremely specific technical features that can be implemented in competitive sports. The competitions consist of lifting an iron ball as many times as possible during the span of ten minutes; the victory goes to the athlete who reaches the highest overall score in the clean and jerk exercises. For some time now, Kettlebell has been following the necessary procedures in order to become an Olympic sport. Already linked to TAFISA (The Association For International Sport for All), the WKSF (World Kettlebell Sport Federation) is being represented in Italy by FIKS (Federazione Italiana Kettlebell Sport).
Recently, a delegation accompanied by Roberto Outeiriño Uceda, Napoli 2019 Director of Sports Operations, was welcomed in Palazzo S. Lucia, headquarters of the Campania Regional Council, to show the scheduled projects and the path that promoters of this sport intend to follow.
