The Museum and Royal Wood of Capodimonte is ready to welcome athletes and delegates from the 118 Countries participating in the 30th Summer Universiade. From July 10th, the fitness area located in the wood will be open to athletes and citizens: “Sports and wellness, both physical and mental, are the objectives of the Museum and Royal Wood of Capodimonte management, in addition to the protection and enhancement of cultural heritage and environment” – explains Director Bellenger – “The Royal Wood of Capodimonte, which is the largest public park in Italy, is the perfect location to relax thanks to its 134 hectares of green area and its precious historic garden, with more than 400 species of plants. For the Universiade Napoli 2019, Regione Campania has financed a 2.5 km fitness area with 15 dedicated stations equipped for warm-up exercise and cardiovascular training”.
The approximately 8.000 delegates will also have the possibility to visit, with a reduced price ticket (8€ instead of 14€), the successful exhibition “Caravaggio Napoli”, curated by Maria Cristina Terzaghi and Sylvain Bellenger, in which 5 works by Caravaggio are displayed with 21 paintings by artists who were influenced by the painter’s innovative style. Finally, on July 7th-8th, at 7:30 pm, the extraordinary music event conceived by Maestro Roberto De Simone, with free admission subject to availability. The concert will feature a performance of “Symphony No. 8 K. 286 in D major for four orchestras” by W. Amadeus Mozart, “Serenata Napulitana” by Enrico De Leva-Salvatore di Giacomo for mezzo-soprano, women’s choir and three accordions (orchestration by Roberto De Simone) and a premiere of “Capomonte poema fotografico d’un valzer digiacomiano per orchestra”, choir and four pianos by Maestro De Simone.
