Ilaria Cusinato, spearhead of the Italian National Swimming Team, will be the Italian delegation’s flagbearer tonight at San Paolo Stadium for the Opening Ceremony of the 30th Summer Universiade.
“I am honoured to have been chosen as flagbearer, I was not expecting it and this will surely be a unique emotion – said Cusinato – I wish good luck to all athletes competing in Naples’ Universiade; let us hope that, as representatives of Italy, we will make a good impression”.
20 years old, silver medal at Glasgow’s European Championships in 200m and 400m individual medley, the swimmer from Veneto is among the most awaited Italian athletes at the Napoli 2019 Universiade. Already Italian record holder in 200m individual medley, Cusinato will compete for the 200m and 400m butterfly. She will lead the Italian delegation, composed by 415 people, which includes 303 athletes who will compete in the 18 sports of the Universiade.
