The Universiade engine is ready to get started. The Napoli 2019 volunteer’s selection process is now completed. Almost 11.000 candidates applied for the “UniVolontà” programme in the provinces of Naples, Caserta, Salerno, Avellino and Benevento, while 5.000 job interviews have been managed by Amesci association. Among those candidates, 3.500 volunteers have been immediately selected and assigned to functional areas in accordance, when possible, with the applicant’s preferences indicated during the registration process.
Candidates who have not been chosen through the selection process may be contacted during the University Games, if vacancies occur in the assignation list.
According to the Universiade Organizing Committee data, 50% of the “UniVolontà” team is composed by women, while the volunteers’ age spans from 18 to 80 years old. The majority of them is under 30. About 300 team members, the youngest ones, are between 18 to 19 years old. The largest part of volunteers are Italian citizens, mainly coming from Campania: almost 2.000 from Naples, 400 from Salerno, 300 from Caserta, 100 from Benevento, 200 from Avellino. In addition, more than 100 international volunteers will come from 39 Countries from the five continents.
800 volunteers have been assigned to the Venue Management functional area, 500 to Protocol and FISU Relations and Transportation, 300 to Technology and the same number to Media and Broadcast Services, while 200 volunteers will be employed for the Athletes’ Village management and 60 to provide assistance to the delegations.
90 volunteers will work within the “Accogliere ad Arte” project, supporting the tourist welcoming services performed by the EPT Info Points in several sites of cultural and artistic interest throughout Naples, Caserta and Salerno. 22 Students from Naples’ Italian Science High School “Giuseppe Mercalli” will be part of the UniVolontà team as well, within a project of school-work experience model named “Per una cultura dell’accoglienza: Sport, Pace ed Inclusione” (For a culture of hospitality: Sport, Peace and Inclusion). 70% of the 5.000 selected volunteers has attended the training period, from June 15th to 25th, which took place in the Universiade venues.
