Details regarding the involvement of State Television for the Napoli 2019 Universiade have been presented during the press conference held at the RAI headquarters of Viale Mazzini, in Rome. During the entire event, which will take place from July 3rd to 14th, 60 hours of broadcast programming will be provided: 5 hours a day on Raidue – which will also broadcast the Opening Ceremony live on the evening of July 3rd – on Raisport, Radio Rai and all its social channels, with all contents available live and on-demand on the Raiplay website. The press conference saw interventions from Marcello Ciannamea, Director of RAI TV Programming, President of Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca, the Extraordinary Commissioner for the Napoli 2019 Universiade Gianluca Basile, FISU President Oleg Matytsin, CUSI President Lorenzo Lentini, Raisport Director Auro Bulbarelli, and Olympic champion Manuela Di Centa, Institutional Sports Relations Coordinator for Napoli 2019.
“The Universiade – said Vincenzo De Luca, President of Campania Region – is an event of great value and significance, a unique occasion for promoting and revitalising both Naples and Campania. We have the responsibility to represent Italy. The Universiade – he added – has been a great gamble, which required a huge effort, for an outcome that we expect to be very positive”. Extraordinary Commissioner Basile recalled the work done in order to renovate the infrastructures: “We are proud of the over sixty sports venues in Campania refurbished thanks to the 270 million euros in public funds from Regione Campania. A great work has been done by over 600 people working in the Organizing Committee, with the support of thousands of volunteers and interns from the Universities”. Ciannamea, Director of RAI TV Programming, commented: “RAI is proud to give visibility to the Universiade. Two daily tv reports will be dedicated to it each day on Raidue, one in the morning and one in the early evening. We will have both live and pre-recorded coverage of the event, with particular attention to young viewers”, he concluded. RAI will follow the event with first-rate reporters. Antonello Orlando will be the official presenter. Alberto Rimedio, commentator of the Italy National Football Team, will be in charge of the Opening Ceremony commentary, supported by Carlo Verna and a yet to be uncovered female voice. Radio Rai will cover the Universiade as well, both with reports and in-depth analyses during the several newscasts on Radio 1 and Radio 2, and with special segments on Radio 1 Sport: the programs “Palla al centro”, “Note di sport” and “il Caffé” will feature reports, interviews and live radio commentaries.
