Since June 26th the Italian Army, in order to increase security measures for Naples’ 30th Summer Universiade protection, has deployed a task force of about 500 soldiers assigned to competition venues’ monitoring as well as to sensitive targets related to the event, located throughout the five provinces of Campania Region. Uniformed men and women will watch over athletes and delegations’ security and tranquillity in perfect accordance with the spirit of the Italian Army, always on the front-line during international sporting events characterized by high-level complexity due to the great flow of participants. This disposition planned by the Italian Army will support “Strade Sicure” (“Safe Streets”) Security Operation, which has been already enforced, and will serve to ensure security in cooperation with Police Forces during the sporting event which will take place from July 3rd to July 14th in the five provinces of Campania Region. This plan has been arranged respecting the spirit of the Universiade, the multidisciplinary sporting event that sees the participation of university athletes coming from all around the world.
