At the invitation of Comune di Napoli, the Universiade Napoli 2019 Organizing Committee presented the transportation plan guideline arranged by the Regional Agency for the Universiade (ARU) technical structure under the coordination of Regione Campania.
The intervention will provide for a transportation service reserved to athletes and their partners from the Athletes Villages of Naples, Salerno and Caserta, to the venues located throughout the whole Campania region.
The Plan includes a fleet of around 280 buses, 300 cars, 100 vans and over 100 cabs that will guarantee the transportation service to all accredited members of the 124 sports delegations participating in the event, besided international and national technicians and media.
For individual sports athletes, 140 buses will be available for scheduled services running every 30 minutes. 20 buses will be used for the connection between the Athletes Villages and the competition venues, while 120 vehicles will be reserved to team sports athletes. The mobility service will be active from June 27 to July 16, every day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The main transportation hub will be at Stazione Marittima in Naples, where two cruise ships will be moored to host around 4,000 athletes and technicians. A bus fleet (each vehicle provided with 50 seats) will move every day from the Neapolitan seaport to and from the different competition venues located throughout the region, with routes every 30 minutes, and peaks of over 35 vehicles per hour. More than 280 routes a day are expected during the 20 days of validity of the Plan.
