Special socks will be introduced in the taekwondo tournament of the Universiade, scheduled from 3rd to 14th July in Naples and Campania. Indeed, KPNP protections will be used for the very first time in Italy: Provided with an electorinc sensor, these socks can send signals to the computer via Wi-Fi. They immediately assign points when athletes hit rival’s protector gear or helmet. KPNP system, created in synergy with Microplus Data Processing & Timing, is quite popular in Asian countries, especially in South Korea. It has recently been tested at the World Taekwondo Gran Prix in Rome.
The Taekwondo tournament of Napoli 2019 will be held at PalaCasoria from 7th to 13th July. “The Universiade represents an opportunity for the development of taekwondo in Italy – explains Angelo Cito, president of the taekwondo federation – our sport has always brought medals to the country. Winning a medal in this event would be very special”.
